This house is located in a suburban area surrounded by old trees. The program includes 4 children bedrooms with an adjoining basement, one main bedroom with studio and en suite bathroom, library, living room, dining room, kitchen, storage area and 3 staff bedrooms. The rooms are arranged in the site in the manner of a villa. Common areas are grouped directly facing the outside on a continuum piano nobile suspended from the ground. To the northeast –taking advantage of the slope– the children area and staff bedrooms are placed half a floor above, while the main bedroom facilities are situated half a floor below, thus creating a continuous roof throughout the entire length of the project.
In the middle of the public area we placed a square glass-enclosed water patio, which organizes the circulations between the main rooms and the outside. The changing light reflections on the white rooms next to the patio emphasize the artificial condition of the piano nobile, a place detached from its surroundings where nature can be seen as landscape.
